There are two coffee or end tables in this room that should be relatively easy to recreate in miniature.
Over the years I have ordered many furniture legs, and thankfully have a variety to chose from. The photo references are so helpful. Although I doubt you would notice if they look just like the tables in the movies, I am trying to make the common room as accurate as I can. The first one I tried to make at an angle like the pictures show, but to no avail.
Cutting the ends of the furniture legs with my handy wood cutter.
Cutting the second set of furniture legs.
Combining the two together.
Deciding on height.
Cutting the angles.
Getting ready to cut the angles on the other end.
The top and underside of the table. See how eating Pogos are a necessity at my house? The table top is sanded along the edges to have a rounded look.
For this piece of furniture, a dark gel stain was used. It is pretty old, and that's ok, we are not looking to get a perfect coffee table. Again, I don't learn and stain it before glueing. It doesn't glue together well with stain on it. Sigh.
This is where I give up on trying to get the angle right and just make a regular coffee table.
The finished coffee table. To seal it, a matte varnish is used,
The second coffee table is usually pictured as an end table to the couch. I used my miniature couch to size it.
Here I am halfway through cutting some furniture legs.
Here is the other part I will use.
Here are all the parts of the legs. Some sanding has to be done before glueing it together.
Waiting for the glue to dry. I think I used gorilla wood glue. I'm not sure if I like it as much as my old wood glue ( Elmers )
Staining the pieces before glueing. What am I thinking?
Sand all surfaces that will be glued. Glue with a wood glue.
Although it seems a little tall, it is the right size for the couch I've made.
Here is the last coffee table in the scene.
Below is Hermione's knitting supplies to free the elves!
Hope you liked them. Have a great day.
