So this is my first attempt at making apple pies for my dollhouse. Bottle caps are just a little too big for pie plates, and making them out of clay wasn't the look i was going for. So i used aluminum foil from an oven liner cut into circles and painstakingly bent them into a pie plate shape. Pastry coloured clay was rolled out and lines the pan. I prebaked some lengths of apple coloured clay, and once they cooled down, sliced them and put them in the pie. At the time i didnt have liquid clay, so i used a gel medium that acts like a glue for the glaze. I sprinkled cinnamin spice on the pies.
Not really happy with the colour, but will try
again another day.
Next time i will try to get better colours with the clay and shading. All i had at the time was some dollar store make-up, that just wasn't the right shade. To save these ones, I will add a pastry top to them. Since I like making my own miniatures, I purchased a clay machine, and it really helps to get a nice even sheet of clay. Using a paint lid cap, circles are cut from the clay, and placed on the pie.
Here are all the pies, textured with a toothbrush, and brushed with chalk pastels. This is my first attempt with liquid clay and chalk pastels to make pie filling. Mine was a little too thick. Next time I will add some pastel to the liquid clay, instead of making a lot of chalk pastel and adding not enough liquid clay. After baking, a little glaze is brushed on. For a first attempt, it's ok, but I will try to make another batch.
