Miniature coffee tables for the Gryffindor common room Harry Potter

There are two coffee or end tables in this room that should be relatively easy to recreate in miniature.
Over the years I have ordered many furniture legs, and thankfully have a variety to chose from. The photo references are so helpful. Although I doubt you would notice if they look just like the tables in the movies, I am trying to make the common room as accurate as I can. The first one I tried to make at an angle like the pictures show, but to no avail.

Cutting the ends of the furniture legs with my handy wood cutter.

Cutting the second set of furniture legs.

Combining the two together.

Deciding on height.

Cutting the angles.

Getting ready to cut the angles on the other end.

The top and underside of the table. See how eating Pogos are a necessity at my house? The table top is sanded along the edges to have a rounded look.

For this piece of furniture, a dark gel stain was used. It is pretty old, and that's ok, we are not looking to get a perfect coffee table. Again, I don't learn and stain it before glueing. It doesn't glue together well with stain on it. Sigh.

This is where I give up on trying to get the angle right and just make a regular coffee table.

The finished coffee table. To seal it, a matte varnish is used,

The second coffee table is usually pictured as an end table to the couch. I used my miniature couch to size it.
Here I am halfway through cutting some furniture legs.

Here is the other part I will use.

Here are all the parts of the legs. Some sanding has to be done before glueing it together.

Waiting for the glue to dry. I think I used gorilla wood glue. I'm not sure if I like it as much as my old wood glue ( Elmers )

Staining the pieces before glueing. What am I thinking?

Sand all surfaces that will be glued. Glue with a wood glue.

Although it seems a little tall, it is the right size for the couch I've made.

Here is the last coffee table in the scene.

Hope you liked them. Have a great day.

Miniature footstools from the Gryffindor common room Harry Potter

The first footstool I am making is usually in front of the winged chair by the fireplace. It is a simple footstool and the best to start with. The top is cut to size, and the edges are rounded.

These legs that can be cut down to look pretty close to the original.

All that is needed is a little bead for the bottom of the leg.

Cereal box card is cut out and I will wrap the fabric around this, and then glue that to the wood top.

Figuring out the thickness of padding that's needed.

This padding is foam from packaging.

Styrofoam glue.

The cushion is not perfect, maybe I will try again later.

The top and legs are painted with acrylic paint.

The second footstool is usually between the fireplace and the couch. It has dimples in the top and I assume I will have to try a couple times to get it right. These short legs are perfect if the end is cut off.

Sorry I didn't take photos, but here is the painted footstool. Pogo sticks are for supports along the bottom.

This is my first attempt on making the footstool. I am not happy with the tufted sewing, and maybe I will try  tiny seed beads to make it more dimpled.

Starting over with the cushion. Trying to make the tufted cushion with an old oven mitt, instead of foam. The old cushion is removed, and a new piece of cardstock will be the base.

Here are the layers: cardstock, oven mitt material, and a paper template for the dimples.

Cutting a piece of material to cover the cushion.

Placing the layers centered on the material

New cushion is all tufted and excess fabric is glued with fabric glue underneath.

Here it is together. It is a bit of an improvement.
